PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state-owned electricity company PT PLN, is set to build a coal-based power plant (PLTGU) in Semarang, Central Java. It is expected that the power plant will begin operating in 2020. "The power plant will provide an additional supply of electricity amount into 780 MW or equal to supplying 5 million households,” said PT. Indonesia Power President Director Sripeni Inten Cahyani. "This power plant is one of the implementations of the government’s 35,000 MW electricity project,” she added.
